Welcome to the Vintage Cafe!

Kickstart Enthusiast
Hi all, I've been given the honor of moderating this forum, so I feel an introduction is in order.
I've been a member of BARF since 2005, and a vintage motorcycle enthusiast since my first vintage motorcycle wasn't vintage.

My intention as a moderator is to let this place run itself for the most part, with hopefully, just a nudge here and there to keep things on track. Since Vintage Café covers a pretty specific subject area, most people who post here will probably not be inclined to post crap or try to start flame wars, so I expect things to be pretty relaxed and friendly here for the most part.

I'm not new to forum moderation, and my moderation style has always been more on the easy going side, especially in a place like this where I'll be spending a lot more time posting as a regular user than as a moderator.
But I'm the moderator, so if something someone posts looks like a violation of TOS, don't hesitate to bring it to my attention. More than likely, I'll see it anyway, since I don't expect this to be a heavily used area like General or Kitchen Sink, but I welcome input if you feel something needs my attention.

Thanks, for reading this, and have fun!

:welcome Thanks for stepping up Carlo :thumbup

I had a 76' TZ350 so that counts even though I never did get it started. :laughing

Thank you indeed for stepping up.
It's great that the post about vintage enthusiasts in General resulted in this sub forum.
Thank you, thank you and thank you again.

Would a build thread for a vintage enduro bike be appropriate here

Hi, I've just finished a resto on a 1975 Honda XL250, certainly not "vintage cafe" but could be of interest to vintage bike fans. OK to post here, or is there a better place on BARF?

Thanks,

-Bill

Hi Bill,

I'd love to see your '75 XL250 resto-thread, on Vintage Cafe,
or anywhere else on BARF ... you may get
more views elsewhere on BARF, IDK ...

... the '75 XL250
would qualify for the AMCA's definition of
"old enough" ... :laughing:party

see you around
the corner,

is this strictly vintage cafe? didn't see any other categories for modern cafe bikes or modern classics

hi yameersixer,

yes, it’s a bit of a confusing name, “Vintage Cafe” isn’t it?

short answer, I think, is that there isn’t an easy place to find BARF threads about modern cafe/modern classic bikes ...

I would tell you that the thinking behind the BARF sub-forum Vintage Cafe name was to be inclusive of folks who may have wanted the start a build thread or do a ride report on a modern cafe bike or a modern classic bike ... don’t think anyone ever has done that though ...

others here feel vintage bikes are drum brakes and points ignition only, or that bikes should be 35 years old ...

sure you’ve seen the the thread in the Moto Photos & Videos subforum called:
Choppers, Bobbers, Trackers, and Customs...

anyway, it becomes an issue of “where do I find threads about modern cafe/classic bikes” vs “where do I post pics or start a thread?”

this subforum is very low traffic, so if I had a pic of a modern cafe/classic bike I wanted to share with a lot of people, I’d probably post it to the “Choppers, Bobbers, Trackers, and Customs...” thread, or start a thread in Moto Photos & Videos or even General ...

hope that makes a little bit of sense ... as a founding member, I’m sure you know all this. :thumbup:ride
