Welcome to 1Rider

Above all I like to play.

As this progresses I'm sure various lists will develop -- task needs, skilled volunteers, content ideas, etc. Right now though, where can people begin making such lists? Going through a discussion thread to find content can be tedious.

Will 1Rider be run with discussion board software or something more wiki-like? I expect a wiki would work better as the content may be collaborative and static in scope.

There's a *lot* of good info on BARF right now; would it be useful for people to begin collecting it somehow?

What the shit is this...
1Rider of course can use some help.

* Photographers for a poster campaign that will be presented to the OTS and also for us to distribute to our sponsors and other business that are willing to step up and help.

This is a brilliant idea, and very PRO-active as opposed to RE-active. And I like that ^_^

Anything I can do to help in Sonoma County let me know.

Kudos.

Maybe, every once in a while in the "General" section, you can refer to a particularly worthy thread in this area to increase "section crossing" and keep this most worthy section "top of mind" among all.

Congrats and thank you to DataDan and to BudMan for choosing him; I'm sure Dan will do an outstanding job and validate the choice.

Fantastic theme for a section.

This is so very critical to the health and well being in the bike community, and BARF has it.

Hope it just keeps gaining traction, and it should with the voices behind it. :thumbup

Have you ever considered trying to analyze the fatal accidents for a year or two and posting the results on 1rider? I'd be interested to see if there are any patterns or particular situations I should watch out for.

I've done a detailed analysis of Bay Area fatal crashes 2006-2007, but I don't remember where I posted it :(. When I find it, I'll post a link in this thread. For now, you'll find a less detailed analysis for 2006 only in the thread Motostats 2006 (near the end).

From memory, I can tell you that about one-third of Bay Area fatal crashes 2006-2007 occurred when the rider ran wide in a curve and hit either an oncoming vehicle or fixed object. About one-fourth occurred when the rider lost control in a straight line. Fatal crashes where another motorist was at fault were a relatively low percentage.

I've noticed also in the past year how many downed riders there have been. Seems every morning there is a rider down in the Bay Area.
I'm sure that training and self policing will help.
This is a good idea.

Really glad that our outting touched you. Yes barf can be seen as silly and in other not so positive ways, but the core group of people that help me run the site and many other members are passionate about our sport remaining strong and also we know that training, knowledge and experience will make a huge difference on the :ride

We will continue to strive for those aspects of life on two.

1Rider/Moto Safety Awareness trailer parked at Vacaville PD station: What's the dealy-o? Are you guys doing something in the area? I've riden by it every day for about a week and finally remembered to let you know that I live two blocks away from where it's parked, and if there's anything I can do to pitch in or lend a hand just let me know and I'll see what I can do. BARF has helped me in lots of little ways and I'd like to return the favor if I can.

Well... that is really the Livermore PD trailer.. we just donated a little coin to help get it built.. they had an event at The Harley shop there over the weekend.. none of us could get up there to set up our stuff unfortunately.

Livermore PD is loaning it out and an information tool to other PD's... Silversvs here on the board is the man that got it done.

Thanks for the info , budman. Next time there's an event in/near Vacaville feel free to hit me up, if nothing else I can lift heavy things or hand out fliers or something!
