Tire condition for C group

In this scenario, I'll have to side with beje. Equally, you can have a new rider go out with 45 psi in their tires and not know why they are riding the way they are (after tech inspection). There are many variables, arguably you have to assume the rider is competent when assessing a bike's condition and evaluating if its in the right condition to let in on the track. I've heard many get three track days out of their tires which is not unreasonable. Could it fail? Yes. Is there a huge margin in the risk? Maybe? Will it pass tech- yes.

Most trackday providers want almost new tires..... So no, it won't pass tech with any provider i would ride with. Tech is about safety for everyone. If someone wants to cheap out and risk others, that's on them, not the provider. I've failed many bikes at tech on tires. Three days on tires is not a lot, by the way.

I failed someone at tech for worn street tires Monday. He had to buy and mount a new one and missed a session, but I didn’t pick up his crashed bike later.

And too high a pressure is also unsafe for others so that’s why anyone without obvious signs of being an AFM racer gets asked if they checked the TP today and then what is it set for?

I get answers like the dealer set the pressure. Or yes I checked, then when asked to what pressure, they don’t know. And occasionally, someone says 42PSI or some super high number.
I explain that they need to give the tires a chance to work and to check with the tire guys for their tire’s track setting.

One of those guys I talked to in tech who had set it at a high pressure and was warned to to correct it crashed. When I brought his bike back to him, I asked if he had changed the TP after tech and he didn’t.
Hard lesson.

It's C group. Take the tire off and run it on the rim. You'll still be faster than 50% of the C group. That tire looks fine to me. Shitty track tire to begin with but .....

it's the C group!
