Sur Ron Light Bee and Alta Redshift Metcalf Electric Trail Ride

Managed to finally go riding with Butch at Metcalf we had an electric bike trail ride. Whenever I see him he's either leaving and I just got there. I was there trying to tune my Light Bee with the 72volt battery. The bike is putting out 15kw of power now but having trouble getting it to ride reliable. Fortunately it ran fine when we did this ride.

In this first part we ride Gruesome Gary singletrack. Been a while since I've done it we rode it in the Coyote Creek Enduro.

I can't wait, I'm getting a Kuberg Ranger next month 14kW. I'm curious how you got that bike to put out 15kW? Can the stock motor be pushed that hard, what is it rated for? How many amps is your controller, is it Sur-Ron? It seems their X sine wave is only 30% larger then the stock at 80A just making 6kW (also their claim). Did you get there by pushing the motor to 72V, if so how is the motor heat doing?
Maybe Sur-Ron is doing what Kuberg has done, all Freeriders have 14kW motors stock, it is only the controller they change out. The 14kW uses a 290A controller at 48V. I'm chomping at the bit to feel 19hp at 80 pounds!

I installed an Electric Race Technologies ASI BAC2000 controller. It's rated to 225A. I also have a Litespeed 72V battery. With 40% field weakening I was able to get my 125lbs Light Bee to 77mph it's TERRIFYING! It's been a struggle getting the bike tuned as you saw in the video. The heat is fine the motor on the Sur Ron is pretty stout. I had problem with the controller overheating because it's the smaller ASI controller but I built a custom heatsink for it and it runs much cooler now. I do notice running it to the max power will heat the motor up a lot like 150F, that's with 40% field weakening like in this video down here. It ain't no Zero FX or Alta Redshift power but it's 125lbs
