Stunt beginner, need practice spots and friends!

Hi there,

I've been riding for years, but never tried even basic stunts. Recently I bought a used '04 Kawi 636 that's stunt ready.

I'd like to start by conquering the slow wheelie.

I live in south bay, and I was wondering:

How do I find people local to me who are practicing stunts? I'd love to go just to hang out, observe, and try some. It's better than just going to a parking lot solo by myself.

mo'betta, go to racetrack & do a trackday...

get going w/that & go racing...more thrills than stunting ever could be..

not that I'm against any faucet of the riding hobby...I just found racing to be the ultimate thrill for me personally...

you already got the bike...:teeth

Modesto might be a bit far from you for a stunt sesh but I use my work overflow parking lot on the weekends. There are quite a few bay-ish stunters on Instagram. Maybe start following some of them and try to land a mentor? Feel free to hit me up if you are in the Modesto area. :thumbup

My buddy practicing wheelies on his FZ07.

Sounds like someone who thought he was fast on the street went to the track and got spanked. :rofl Now the track is "lame".

Sounds like you know a thing about that as well. Tired of having your friend beat you in mini moto racing 2 years in a row?

Normalized for power to weight ratio I'm actually a 2% faster rider than him, equivalent to the advantage 17's gives you over a 17/19 tire combination.

That 2% advantage is only viable if under optimum track conditions with the newest sport touring rubber in 19/17 wheelsizes. Maybe if you lost some weight your leathers might fit better and you could be faster than him.

I hear he is getting fat too.

I would suggest meeting up with riders either on here or just out and ask around in person. There is a decent scene in the east bay and SJ for stunt riding. It's hard to get into a group through the internet though because they don't really want to link up with the wrong people. Try to go to bike nights.
