Boston Dynamics’ robotic dog, Spot, is getting a lot more self-sufficient. Today the company is announcing Spot Enterprise, a new version of the robot that features a charging stand to top up its batteries without any human interaction. The robotics company is also announcing Scout, a new browser-based control system that offers a streamlined interface for piloting Spot over the internet, as well as a new robotic arm to help the robot “grasp, lift, carry, place, and drag a wide variety of objects.

While the current Spot Explorer has around 90 minutes of battery life, the new Spot Enterprise can live on a remote site with a charging station “indefinitely.” When combined with Scout, the hope is that businesses can use Spot as an alternative to dispatching personnel to remote sites.

Maybe I'll consider getting a "dog" after all. :laughing

I like dogs, I just don't like taking care of them or cleaning up after them. Would this one be able to play with my daughter's dog when she bring him over? Are they able to bark at people that come to the door? If somebody breaks into my house, can it bite them? Enquiring minds want to know. :cool

I thought that I read somewhere that they were going to offer that as an extra. Not listed right now on the site. For the add ons that I like, it would be an extra 100k. But then that would make it almost autonomous.

If I had an extra $75k laying around, I would get one and attach some blades and a Vid Screen to it. Tons of fun.
