Just picked up a 09 suzuki v strom 650 and overall I am in love with the bike. The only issue I have is that my right shoulder starts to hurt after a half hour of riding. I also have a yamaha vstar and have had a similar issue. I think it might be a issue with how the handlebars sit. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar issue and how they fixed it. Maybe buying bar risers so my arms aren't extended as far... thoughts?

Bar risers are a good place to start - get some (ROX's for instance) that allow you to move the bars up and back in combination; not just straight back/up. It's amazing how little adjustments can make a huge difference when riding longer distances.

On a sport bike it's acceptable somehow to hurt but on an adventure bike it can be really distracting.

The problem might also be related to the sweep of the bars- if they're at too much of an angle back, it might tend to pinch your shoulders or tweak your wrists. You can get different bends of bars to fit the 7/8" clamps that are on there, if you need something higher with more or less rake.
