Subject to interpretation. Depends on what you're doing
CRITERIA: Every Day Ordinary Kit. This is something that you KNOW WHERE IT IS, COLD, NO LIGHTS, with HEAVEN'S ARTILLERY THUNDERING IN THE SKY*. Your fingers can make each piece out in the dark by feel alone, Rambo!
DESCRIBE: what OBSCURE THING that you had on hand in your kit that SAVED THE DAY. Was it cyanoacrylate adhesive for a nasty flapper cut? Maybe you had a few inches of electrician's tape wound around your chapstick. Whatever it was, it SAVED YOUR (OR SOMEONE ELSE'S) BACON.
This could be anything from your everyday Altoids Tin filled with goodies, all the way to a CAN OF STERNO in the glove compartment that STAVED OFF HYPOTHERMIA.
I am curious about WHAT inspired you to carry this collection of objects with you AT ALL TIMES while OUT and ABOUT.
TO WIT: One of my kits [attached] is for a push-bike. it fits in a chic 2.5x4.5 zip bag, and has gotten me home reliably. The spare master links (one 9sp, one 12sp) have saved me from walking home in a messy Long Island winter. Tire booting material is used rarely, but when you need it, by gawd it saves the day.
