occasionally can't write PM replies

from time to time, the text box for PM replies isn't editable. I've had this happen on multiple computers, running chrome.

see grey selection, rather than blue if you were editing

any ideas?

Been a while and I don't quite remember the details, but it was post replies rather than PMs. Also Chrome.

It was possibly due to an advert. When I activated my ad blocker, normally disabled for BARF, it stopped. I wish I had done an experiment, observing ads displayed when the symptom occurred, but I didn't. I was just happy it stopped. I've kept the ad blocker going and it hasn't recurred.

BTW, I've now disabled the blocker and will let you know if it comes up again.

I have uBlock Origin, turned off for BARF, I suppose I could turn it on.

I don't recall it happening for post replies.

Been having the same issue for a while, also on chrome. If I leave the window open for a bit and use another window, it comes back. Or, if I go back and forth several times it comes back.

yeah I'll refresh a bunch of times and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't

but I tried opening up a dozen PMs and none of them had the problem, so I couldn't tie it to anything specific

The randomness makes me think Dan's onto something about it possibly being tied to an ad.

This happened to me today--on a PM as Junkie reported--not a post reply. I left it in that state, and opened another tab to post this. But when I returned to the first tab, the problem had vanished. For info, ads up were Cycle Gear and IRC Components Quickshifter.
