I've been away from riding for a while. Then Budman sends me a message every year on my birthday, and this year it brought me back. I started looking around Craigslist and other sites, but ended up finding this around the corner from me by chance. 1979 KZ650 SR. 15,000 miles. really nice overall, and it is under $1,000.

Very nice find. I almost bought the "SR" model like yours; but ended up w/a "C" model I rode for over a decade. Great bikes!

Don't worry, I'll get more pics on the first ride. I hope to pick it up this weekend.
I'm also fortunate to have another neighbor that is very handy, and has ridden, raced, and wrenched on motorcycles since the '60s.

I kinda lucked into a 1979 kz1000e last year for dirtbag. I got it because it ran and was cheap but it's my current favorite bike I own*. Kick starts really easy, quite reliable, lots of info for DIYers and apparently the basic engine is reliable like a hammer.

*just got a buell 1125cr though, like 20 miles under my belt on that so I expect there will be a stalemate for quite some time to come
