I took my DL650 camping for the first time this week. I hope you all enjoy the pictures I got.

Adverse Selection
Wow! Where were you? That looks like quite a bit of sand. How did those tires do? Got any narrative to go with the photos?

I was in Nevada just north of Pyramid Lake. It was quite sandy. Once I got up towards the hills it got better, but just off the road was pretty thick.

The first and second pics are the route I took in. The third is my campsite. I was very fortunate to have found a piece of plywood to put my center stand on. The fourth is a shot I got at about 6:30 am friday morning as the sun was coming up. The white spots at the bottom of the pic is the campsite. Pic 5 and 6 are the route I took out, which was slightly more challenging. Pic 7 is just a dried up lake a little east of hallelujah junction. Pic 8 was taken from a vista point on Hwy49 looking towards Nevada.

I have a few more, but am having trouble getting them off the camera at the moment.

Oh, and the tires were just as you'd expect. It was low going through the sand with a finger on the clutch at all times, but I made it and the bike did not hit the ground once.

Cool! Thanks for the additional info. I had guessed Nevada somewhere, and not too far from the Sierra. I've found you can pretty much go anywhere on street tires, you just can't be in too much of a hurry. My SV650 has done a fair bit of dualsporting and it seems to do quite well on the street tires. I have a TKC80 on the rear of my Husky at the moment and I'd like to try it on the SV some time.

Nice pics, thanks for sharing with us city bound folks. A 6" circle made from scrap plywood is a bike saver in the sand or mud. Drill a hole and attach it to a open spot on frame (if any) or slide in backpack.

Excellent photos! They make me want to hop on my bike and get out on a camping trip. Good thing I have one coming up the first weekend in October. :) Thanks for sharing.
