For obvious reasons, I've been doing alot of research into ways someone could ride a motorcycle with a serious handicap...:wtf:wow...yup
I thought I would share my results and save someone some time. Now obviously, everybody's injury is different and I focused on ways someone with little to zero leg function could possibly ride in the future. Controls can be re-routed and modifications can be made, on a case by case basis, so I won't get into debates on the relevance of this listing or that.

The good'ol side hack:

Many brands exist but with Ural coming back into vogue in recent years I figured would jump on the trend-train. Connie (Gixxergirl1000) told me story about a rider she passed, who at the top of the hill, hoisted himself over the side of his Ural onto the collapsable wheelchair he had stashed secretly in his side-car.

I was less than enthused when this behemoth rolled up in front of my rehab facility and my rec- therapist said "isn't that just the coolest motorcycle!". The Batman insignias didn't help, but the impression it gave me was that some poor R1200 had grown a horrid inoperable tumor, and was dragging itself around. I rolled by it to look at the minivans :| :face palm . That said, every owner I spoke to loved it and since it gave them a way to enjoy life, I understand.

There are too many trike manufacturers to list, so I listed one from the top of google. If you dont like cruisers, there are a couple of trike companies that base their products off of BMWs and there are always kits and custom jobs if you have the money. If you are dead set on finding the latest sport bike in trike form, you are dead out of luck (not to mention not understanding the purpose of sport bikes).

There are a few brands of training wheels but few accomplish with this brand does. They're pretty cool in my opinion (if you like full dresser Harleys and the like) because they allow you to lean.
There are two very different models that accomplished a similar task One model operates like landing gear, and is lowered when rolling to stop. It is raised once the bike reaches speeds where leaning is required.
The other model operates as a permanent trike , but at the flick of a switch , the bike's suspension unlocks allowing the bike to lean . Both bike systems are actuated by the same thumb switch located on the handlebars .

Reverse trikes and the like:

A reverse trike is a three wheeled vehicle with a two in the front, one in the rear, wheel configuration . Some can lean like the MP3 , made by the Piaggio group ( makers of Aprilia, MOTO GUZZI, GILERA , and Vespa.
**Some drive more like a snowmobile then a motorcycle, like the Can-am Spyder, made by Canadian based BRP (Bombardier Recreational Products).
**Some drive like a car, but retain an open air feel. The T-Rex V14RR made by Campagna and the Scorpion lll made by Grinnall are my personal favorites, but there are many different companies making very similar products, usually but not always built around a motorcycle powerplant.
** The website I listed contains all the information you could ever want about reverse trikes . There's even a 250 cc Chinese knock off of the Can-am Spyder called a "Roketa Spyder" which quite honestly looks like lawsuit material and will most likely be off the market soon. It's only available through eBay (import loophole?)but it's attractive $3500 price tag makes it an option for new buyers. Although, if you ask me, a one speed (with reverse) 250cc Chinese moped engine doesn't really compare to its 998cc V2 Rotax, five speed, competition.*

This is an interesting leaning trike which is based on the tech from a now dead vehicle called The Carver One. The release date will be somewhere in 2014 and the MSRP is a $25k target.
