Moto Melee XXII, 2019

My friend Kalle sent me a few pics from the twenty-second edition of the Moto Melee,
a three-day, 750 mile ride for vintage motorcycles made in 1970 and earlier,
because I'm not on Facebook ... :toothless

The first Moto Melee was held in 1998 ...

think I spot four BARF Baja vets in this pic--
kalle, wowens, 1968siia and Norcalslowpoke ...?

the Moto Melee folks like to dress up for their send-off party at
the SFMC on Friday night ... Lisa and BARF Baja-vet rebekahlynn. She was there along with five other BARFers to see 1968siia, Norcalslowpoke, wowens and kalle off ...

Norcalslowpoke and wowens are old Moto Melee veterans, but think this was 1968siia's first Moto Melee ... cool Sprint prep thread here.

In any event, the Moto Melee was the "we-do-it-every-year" ride that got me into vintage bikes, because I decided I wanted to join the fun and therefore needed a "Melee" bike ... :laughing

Crossed paths with the Melee a couple of times over the years on Hwy 36. Always fun to smell the burning oil and overly rich running bikes.

Nice pics! I’m in that pic on the bridge too. Just incognito in street gear and a scraggly beard and glasses. :laughing

That was my favorite day of the Melee. Fun times. The hunt is on for a bigger bike for next year!

ha, that is you in the pic! :laughing:thumbup

be interesting to see what other Melee-eligible bike
you decide on ...

my goal was always to find a Melee bike that
could do the Melee as well as fire roads on the Sheetiron
and also be able to ride down to Baja from SF and do easy dirt south of the border ... :afm199

let me know if you decide to sell the Sprint (not that
I could afford it or have room in the garage) ... :gsxrgrl

Thanks for sharing it with us John. :thumbup

Really cool event.

Kalle sez he’ll send a few more pics ...
