Montebello Road

Does anyone know if Montebello Road is ridable from Stevens Canyon Road to Page Mill Road? Google Maps link:

I seem to recall there being some dirt sections along this road. I have a dual sport bike and was wondering if the road is open all the way and how difficult it is to handle.

There's a dirt/fire road with a locked gate at the top of Montebello. No way I could squeeze my KLR through the gap. No dirt from Stevens Canyon up to that gate though, just very goaty/bumpy pavement.

Go south of Hollister if you want long-ish dirt roads.

I use to live in Hollister. There are a few good dirt roads you can explore:

Old Hernandez Rd. Has a water crossing, not bad.
La Gloria Rd is a nice long road that connects HW25 to HW101 in Gonzales.
Browns Valley Rd connects Panoche Rd to Santa Anita Rd.

I have taken my KLR650 on all of them.

Their are a few more, with " access by permission only" also.

No, I wish I did. I scoped it all out with Google maps and found out I needed permission to pass! :shocker

There are a few good ones like that around Hollister. One is over the mountain to San Luis Res. and the other is skirting the south side of the OHV park to HW1.



Do you have a hookup?

Nah, I wish. I was poking around there back in February looking to string together Santa Ana Valley to Panoche. No luck. Even tried to talk this hot little mama into letting me past the gate...

Ya, I know that gate well. I asked if I could pass one time and the guy asked me why I wanted to come in. All I could thing of saying was" just for fun!?!" he laughed but didn't let me in. I haven't tried the other end of the road but I think I would find the same thing. Oh well...
