Let's see your before/after pics!

Mr. Knew it All
1970 T120R

650 Bonneville found on the edge of a Strawberry field in Snelling, Ca.
Half buried on its side. Surprisingly complete.
1995? Had to be dug out with a shovel.
Price: $500 Still a lot back then.
After countless power washing, scraping, degreasing, removal of vegetation, it wasn't that bad. Engine locked up top and bottom of course.
The disassembly began.

The after photo will follow because I have free time to post, but not to learn a new trick right now.

Finished. Are they really ever done?
Yes, a show bike but I also rode it.
Got first place at Mororcycle Days West at Sears.
Had to excuse myself from the judging for a bit as I also rode it on the AMA laps of the track!
Rode the crap out of it!
When they announced the show winners, they said my name blah, blah, and added and he really RIDES it too!!

Nice job! Especially considering you started with a bike that was buried in a field.

Strawberry fields forever!

Purchased off Craigslist on a whim. It had supposedly been stored in a shed since the late 70's, but it looked like it had been dug out of the bottom of the ocean.

I probably should have parted or scrapped it, but I like a challenge. (I can get a little obsessive about my projects.) :)

After many, many hours, cans of PB'laster, plenty of skinned knuckles, some backyard machining (aka, hacksaw and a bastard file), and with lots of help from the kindly folks on Hondatwins.net and Bay Area Vintage Riders:

The build spanned about 18 months. Being a cheapskate, the thing I'm most proud of is that the project, including acquisition cost of the rusted hulk, was just under $1500.

Biggest compliment was when someone thought it was Gabe's bike one day when I was at Addiction Motors. :)

For me it was my "must have" bike when I was 18. Bought one - a 1971 H1A - in 1973 and rode it through my first years of college. Sold it to buy a car. I should have just parked it in my parents garage. Bought my current bike in 1988 - found it while driving to a sales call in Oakland CA. Saw a guy pushing it on the freeway frontage rd. I skipped the sales call and caught up with the guy and bought it for $250. It ran for a short while - I drove my then small kids around on it - one on the tank, one on the seat- then it sat for 20 years. My now adult kids got me to pull it out in December 2012 and with the help of Dave Singleton, who is very knowledgeable about Kawasaki Triples, got it running. The rebuilt took about 6 months......still tweaking it till this day. Have about 5000 miles on it since the rebuild. A lot of rides to Alice's and the 84, Stage, Pescadero, Bonny Doon to highway 9/35 loop.

Well, I cannot access my true "before" pic because it's on an obsolete storage device, but the pic below is the correct year. Mine deviated from this stock bike by only having black painted RD400 mags & rear disk, and DG Heads.

On the "after" pic the only stock parts that remained were the stock frame (not the swingarm), engine cases and bottom end; cylinders & pistons; fuel tank & side covers, and instrument cluster. Since this pic was taken, I've also replaced the clunky, over built RD400 caliper holder with a custom made one. Now if I could just find where I put that caliper.....and figure out a new design for better frame fairing mounts. No, they never really are done!

Nicely done!

Thanks...more work then I should have sunk into it, but it's a pretty unique bike in the states. The engine is a shaker but gives good vibes when you rev it up. A bit of a blocky ugly duckling, but in the black/silver S2 trim is very nice looking.

Here's mine, 1980 GS550. Found it on a ranch in Fallon, NV. The victim of a nasty airleak at the airbox.

Here it is a few months ago. It now has all bits on it and it (finally) runs:
