Just moved back to the East Bay!

Hey everyone!

I just moved back to the East Bay from NYC. I've been riding for a few years, and have been riding my 2014 Daytona 675R for about a year now. I rode a lot in NYC, but living in Manhattan required more of an effort to ride, so I'm excited to be back in an area that's more motorcycle friendly. Turns out I'm not into east coast winter riding with heated gear, so the ability to ride year round is especially welcome haha.

I ride mostly in the East Bay area around Oakland/Berkeley/El Cerrito, usually on shorter rides through areas like Grizzly Peak and Briones Park, but I like longer day trip rides as well. (I rode the Daytona cross country from NYC to LA a few months ago, so I'm used to putting down a lot of miles in a day)

So yeah I'm looking forward to meeting other riders in the bay, and maybe checking out some bike nights or group rides!

My bike (hopefully it doesn't show up too big):

Edit: I tried a different picture but it's still huge, I'll figure that out for future posts haha

Welcome! Don’t sell those heated grips just yet, it can get chilly here in January.

Love that 675 triple. Have one, too.

Keep the warmups available!

Last night along the coast here heated grips would have been nice to have.

Thanks everyone! And I had a pair of heated gloves I was planning on getting rid of but maybe I'll keep them around for that January weather. Cold hands is the worst when riding

Welcome! Gorgeous bike. I’ve always admired the Daytona.

I’m in EC and ride in Marin on most weekends. PM me if you want to join. :thumbup

As a fellow NYer (upstate), welcome to teh BARFs! :welcome

Yeah, one of the best things around here is the "winter" riding. :teeth

That and the lack of snow, ice, freezing rain, slush, hail, lightning strikes, nor'easters, hurricanes... The list goes on. :party

Keep your heated gear, as soon as you acclimatize to the area, you'll want them just in case. :laughing :thumbup

Thanks! Haha yeah I'm looking forward to a much more rideable winter. And no salt on the roads is nice too. I've already been using my base thermal layer so I can totally see my other winter gear being useful.
