Is my FXR vintage?

like the nacelle-style front end in the first pic, and the speedo on the tank is brilliant. :ride

The 41mm FL style forks and nacelle just didn't do it for me. Too much like my dad's Electra glide. The tank mounted speedo is something I've come to terms with, but it's now an electronic unit. The bike was built to be like an FXR chassis Fat Boy, which shows the dating of the bike (1997). I wanted a more current look, hence the 39mm forks and 19" wheel. Finding a 17" rear was difficult. I had to make custom spacers to use a newer sealed bearing wheel on my swingarm.

I just got back from a Redwood test run. The brakes are definitely better than the old Wilwood setup. I'm very happy with the chassis now.

Next is more power.
