How to embed images from Google Photos

I've been working on a new forum for expats in Australia. This led me to search for a way to include pictures from Google Photos in forum postings with a direct URL, not one that links to my Google account and the other pictures in it.

I found a way to do this and wrote it up here. Enjoy!

Any way to do on an iPad. In Switzerland now with just a phone and iPad. Not sure how to get image address.

I have to email to my self and change size. See below. Also is there a way on an iPad to post and not be sideways.

Hi Bill, I hope you guys are having a blast over there!

I tried this on my Android phone and with Firefox was able to long-press on the image to get the context menu with the option to copy to the clipboard. Then with another long-press in the message composition field I get the option to paste it in. It's a bit awkward on the tiny screen though.

Not so lucky with Chrome, that does not seem to have the option of copying to the clipboard. So try Firefox.

If that doesn't work let me know and I'll borrow my wife's ipad to play with it.

I've seen mention before of the problem of sideways pictures from Apple products but don't recall the solution. Some web searching may help. Maybe Google Photos can fix it by rotating the image once and then back again.

Thanks Rod I will download Firefox. One of the pictures was rotated on a Google photos. Still posted sideways. We are having a great time, 9 days in the Alps. Now at the daughters in Basel.

Sounds great Bill, fun times!

So yeah, with Firefox on the iPad you can long-press after opening the photo then choose Copy Image Link and proceed as described.

One thing I did to make pasting easier is after clicking the Insert Image icon, I typed xxxxxxxx and then long-pressed on the x's and then Select and Paste. That way the x's are replaced by the photo URL in between the IMG and /IMG tags. But I'm not very familiar with Apple stuff and you may find a better way.
