Hit by red light runner

I usually ride a 04 moto guzzi California ev but recently bought a 2007 kawasaki 500r cheap as a for profit bike, it had been stored in garage for 3 years, not a scratch on it, trucked it home and got to work, draind and cleaned tank, carbs, chain, ect. two and a half days of work, droped in new battery and fired it up, took it around the block and it ran sweet!, next day decided to take it to work and put a for sale sign on it, riding down a one way with a smile on my face and thinking "maybe I should keep this bike, it runs real nice" went to cross an intersection with a green light and the world turned upside down, flipping and falling face first on to the pavement, the first thing I see is my new bike laying on its side surounded by broken glass and the car that hit me backing up to possibly drive around and away? I'm not going to lay there and let them so I stand up and point my finger at them then realized i can't walk, two whitnesses ran over to stop her as I staggerd over to the side of the road and laid down, that's when the pain hit, possibly broken right leg and foot, back injury and god knows what else, thank the two wheel gods there was 6 witnesses and video from a nearby buisness, long story short tramma center said no broken bones, some possible nerve damage, bike that i only owned for 7days totaled and can't walk yet, all in all pretty dam lucky.

Holy crap. Glad you had those people getting your back and that you're "ok".

Do you know anything about the driver, licence, insurance etc...?

Ok, I gotta laugh though. Can't walk and looking for a replacement project bike already :laughing

You're either really hardcore or the pain meds are working a little too well :cool

as I was on the ground and lamenting the death of my ninja I called my wife who came to the intersection and got all the info from the cops, the chinese girl that hit me was insured and yes I intend to be riding as soon as possible, wanted to go to sturgis on the moto guzzi but maybe next year. p.s. vicoden is goood!

Man! Scary story. Seems like you will make a full recovery? Not sure what nerve damage means, but since everyone else on the BARF has an opinion, here is mine: Don't blindly go into intersections. Maybe you did, maybe you didn't. Maybe it would have helped, maybe it wouldn't have. Who knows, but looking before I leap has saved me at least once. I try to do it most times. A green light doesnt give you a force field. Remember what your mom said: Look both ways before you cross a street. You are indeed crossing a street if you are going through intersection.

My cousin hit a red light runner on 19th in SF in her car. She T-Boned his car and was found at fault because she didn't make sure the intersection was clear which is total and complete bullshit.

She was stopped at a red, it turned green and she went forward.

So, I have to slow down and check every intersection I go through legally to make sure some texting asshat isn't going to hit me?

How ya feelin man?

hi Dan,

I believe this happened outside my work and some of the witnesses were moto folks at the office. When I walked by you appeared to be in capable hands and our security folks were very clear about her running the red light. Thank goodness for security cams. So glad to hear nothing was broken and that the new bike is going to go another round. I'll update Arun and his wife. This intersection is not far from where Craig Hightower died due to an inattentive driver and accidents involving both vehicles and pedestrians are very common. People are always rushing to make the lights.

car in #1lane was stopped at red when I looked and she passed him in #2, didn't even have time to jump, don't laugh, I had to jump years ago and cleared the car that pulled out in front of me,one forward flip landed on boot heels and finger tips and not a scratch on me and all I was wearing was a tee shirt, blue jeans, boots and gloves ( it was before helmet laws). and it was at cost plus world market hq, I've been thinking about a sv650 as my next sport bike or a versys,
Dr. wants the swelling in my leg go down befor he does any more tests, ankle and knee are what he and I are worried about, still puffy and painful

hell no, when they got out of the car they looked at me with a "I have some place to be and your slowing me down" look on their faces.

It is a terrible intersection; Craig didn't die because of an inattentive driver, or red light runner, Craig died because of an idiotic traffic rerouting.

Glad the OP is going to be OK, glad the at fault party was detained, and glad there are witnesses still willing to step up.

Sorry about the bike :(

Update; took the bastards at farmers six monthes to pay for the bike, it turns out I had a crap lawyer, he didn't file the lawsuit right away and let farmers claim I was speeding which means I was 10 percent at fault, then let farmers screw me on loss of use, ended up hiring Michael Padway and so far he's done a good job, my physical injuries are torn tendons in the back of my right knee, tail bone injury, spinal injury, neck injury and possible neurologic damage, the good news is I bought a blue, pristine 07 sv650s with a yoshimira exhaust, installed frame sliders and am going to install a gsxr front end on it.....well I guess this proves the neurologic damage ;p
