Hi All,

I've been riding off and on since 1975, but have really been getting back into it since the lock down. I've have had a lot of different kinds of bikes over the years, all the way from a mini-bike, to a 125 Honda Elsinore, to a (scary!) GS1100E, to a couple of Buells and Harleys.

Right now I have a 2019 Kawasaki W800 Cafe that I have been having a lot of fun with (and slowly modding). So I might have some random technical questions for people, and I'm also looking forward to group rides and other social events!

I also want to improve my riding skills, since I know my reaction times are much slower now, LOL.

Anyways, happy to be here and I look forward to being a part of the community. :afm199

Thank you!

I want to say '82. I had it in the mid-1990's when I was living in SF. I recall that someone had painted it black over the (silver?). I remember that I crashed it messing around practicing my panic stopping (don't do this when there is gravel!)

We ended up replacing the big round 7 inch headlight with a 5.75. Then I put a small quarter fairing on it. I put on a Mac slip on. Total rat bike at that point, but fun, fast and reliable.

Ended up giving it away to someone after I got my Buell. Wish I would have kept it now!!!

what year was the GS1100E?

LOL,

I wish they still made the 510! Car-wise, I had a 49 Chevy 5 window pick up truck back then with a 283, a 4:11, and an M22 "rockcrusher." Also had a stock 53 GMC pickup with the stock in-line 6.

Granny gear in the GMC was amazing! Good for about 5MPH, but could climb over anything.

Good stuff!
I had 1950 Chevy 3 window truck with a I-6, headers, car 4spd. That was a fun truck!

Nice! Remember the shock absorbers that worked off the principle of friction, and the leaf FRONT springs? The chassis design on those was still literally stagecoach engineering that far back. But there was so little to fail.

You still see those trucks in use!
