Firefox stopped auto-login recently

A few days ago Firefox stopped automatically logging me in to sites like BARF. This is the case for all sites that used to automatically log me in when I visit them including gmail. I haven't changed any settings at all and I've looked through the options and settings pages without seeing anything obvious.

It started right around the time that Firefox recommended that I download the latest version. After several days I finally downloaded and installed the latest version, but no change in behavior.

It still remembers the username and password for all of the sites, it just doesn't keep me logged in. I have to go click to login every time, which is kind of annoying. It's especially annoying when I get a BARF notification for a thread that I'm watching. I click the link and it goes to the thread, but if I want to reply I have to go up to the top and login first.

I've tried searching on Google and haven't found anything useful yet. Do any of you have any ideas of what to check or what setting might be controlling this?

And please, no comments about Chrome, I have to use Firefox for some things.

Can you give me a hint where to look? I've already invested a couple of hours trying to figure this out and haven't been able to find anything useful. I don't post stuff in the Geek Speak section until I've reached the point of total discouragement in trying to resolve an issue.

And what is a Firefox profile?

Make sure the time is set correctly on your PC.

If that's not it, try deleting your cookies for bayarearidersforum.com, then log in and see if the problem persists.

That's all I've got.

Still don't know what setting was messed up, but I upgraded again to Firefox 75.0 and it forgot everything that it knew. But it allows me to switch back to the previous profile to access favorite web sites, my passwords, and stuff like that.

I have to visit each favorite site once and log in to it, but then it will automatically log in again like it used to from then on. Really annoying, but at least with just a little bit of effort it's all fixed.

I guess they don't really care about users who don't want to use their browser the way THEY think it should be used.

Anyway, no longer a problem.
