Excluded Topics for New Posts

What topics are searched by the "New Posts" link?

Apparently, it's not all of them. The Kitchen Sink, notably, is absent. In that "new posts" in the Kitchen Sink do not appear in the search results.

Wondering what others are excluded.

BARF has a policy that the Kitchen Sink shall not be searchable.

KS shows up in my list when I hit New Posts

Oops. That is the result of a mistake I made when setting up one of the usergroups that you are a part of. I've 'fixed' it now, and you've lost that ability / feature.

I've brought this up with the Admins to discuss the possibility of making changes to the policy of keeping the 'Sink unsearchable.

UGH! See what happens when you try to help. That sucks. New Posts is my favorite and most used feature on this site, now I lose an entire section of quality threads.

Same here. I read almost everything in the KS, even though I rarely post there.
I've had this feature for quite a long time, it was nothing new. :(

The Admins made some adjustments. Try again.

Ever since I've been on BARF kitchen sink threads have not shown up when I hit New Posts. Starting today they do.

Yea, they showed for me today too.

Now I'm confused.

Mind, I was just asking for clarity as what was and wasn't covered. I didn't really know some topics were exempt.

Too much lean angle...
I now see Kitchen Sink posts on "New Posts" and do not like it. I come to BARF for concentrated motorcycle information, not general time-wasting.

BARF’s policy from the very beginning was that the Sink should not be searchable. The exact reason for this is difficult to find. The theory is that the Sink was an area for us to talk about anything in private without unregistered users able to easily view it. The times have changed (private politics forum) and technology has too (google can search the Sink for you).

As readers can see, a small group of users had the ability to search the Sink due to a mistake (by me). This thread / posts and my ‘fix’, brought up the topic in the BARF boardroom and we made adjustments. Yeah for progress.

It looks like if you go to Advanced Search, you can set and save your own custom options including which sub-forums you want. It probably won't affect New Posts, but presumably allows you to do what you want via Advanced Search. Haven't tried it myself.
