Eroding away at the BLM, one chip at a time

Papi

Mmmmm...Faster
How will this help, Papi?

The goal is to continue stripping away the BLMs over zealous power and erode them away, while turning lands back over to states. The real issue is the BLM. Therefore anything we can do to erode the power is better. As far as your second question, this is not a promotion of lawlessness, but a restoral of power to the people and local gov. There's more going on as well, another action in Utah is well underway right now to.

this bill sure seems odd, far more useful to some of the crazy people who show up in the national news than OHV access.

here in california, the BLM is way more friendly to mountain bikes than most state and county agencies. some counties have been using monies promised for maintenance to hire rangers to enforce rules which were previously rarely enforced.

i don't know if the same story is true about OHV issues. maybe because some of these issues also vary by county/etc.

other items we should be monitoring are:

House passes Sue and Settle Bill to curb the strategies of environmental groups who file a lawsuit against a federal agency and then offers to settle if the agency agrees to certain conditions.

Dianne Feinstein introduced the California Desert Conversation and Recreation Act of 2015 that amends and updates teh California Desert Protection Act of 1994. It sets parameters for more preserved land, off-road recreation use (5 areas) and development of renewalbe energy (think wind/solar farms). It also estalishes 77 miles of water ways as Wild and Scenic Rivers.

Paul Cook also introduced a similar bill H.R. 3668, the California Minerals, Off-Road Recreation, and Conservation Act, which also sets aside areas for OHV use.

I am surprised by Feinsteins bill. What am I missing???

For sure the BLM acts autonomously and need their testies put in check.
They are not people who rep us rather they seem like people who rule us and since they use our money to do that foooooook them.

I am trying to find maps, but I think she is expanding protected land, while establishing the ability to install renewable energy farms (wonder if her husband would benefit from that). All while reducing the available land for OHV use. The water ways is confusing as that would limit the ability to have a hydro-electric plant.

Feinstein and Boxer already have a massive history against OHV use, as I'm sure you all know.
They're making money on it somewhere

It's not BLM in general. The Ukiah office has been pro OHV and relatively easy to work with. Slow, but reasonable.
