Me bike, & me, still down. Although I'm getting close. Battery charged up, just need to flush tank & clean carbs, & the major problem, FIX BRAKES, & I'm there. Hopefully soon....

Vertigo still my largest problem =side-to-side balance issues/vertigo, weakness in legs. Walking up to ~3/4 mile daily now, even mowed the 2 lawns (over 3.5 days), been looking over da bike several times. ALMOST there. Soon. :ride

Hopefully you all enjoying Spring folks...:thumbup

fun fun fun! :(

Pneumonia. There I said it. Sorry haven't been on much last several days but been truly feeling like crap; now I know why. After lengthy couple chats w/the “Help-Nurse” at medial provider, they insisted on a trip to hospital for checks.

Drove into the ER, & I was admitted after wait. Spent the day w/more checks, x-rays/too-many needle sticks, pressure inhaler, the works. Finally in the wee hours of the morning, Diagnosis: Pneumonia. Oh goody. :twofinger

After some back & forth (I was pressuring for release), they decided I may as well go home as no one was there anyway at that hour. Gave promises to check in w/doc today, & thank God, they let me go.

Thus, this post early morning w/me only gotten few hours of interrupted sleep. No storytelling, inserting the usual silliness/etc. today or f/next few days...

I'll be bbaaaacck! :(

I was so upset w/that diagnosis; I forgot to add to growing list: COPD. So Pneumonia & COPD are new problems as of yesterday. Are we having fun yet? Doc told me to "get your affairs in order." :wow

Life expectancy for both is extremely limited. Measured at level 1,2 & 3 levels, with life expectancy after 1 year of 70%, to 3 years 50%, to 5 years 40% quite limited/shorter than I thought....

Oh the pain...sometimes I just want to shut all computers off forever, so I can't research this stuff....:thumbdown

I'm out....

still here.... but not too long as I'm almost chained to the 02 machine. I now can't go anywhere, do anything, but stay on the 02 =stuck in the bedroom. I'm getting another 02 tank so I can put it here in front of pc/but right now, time online very limited directly by lung-function.. =cough severeness.

Friggin' great. Stuck w/tv or bed at the machine, nothing more....this sucks! All the muscles built up in the last 6 months withering away; I can feel it. So down I can't express. Will only be checking "subscribed" threads until this is over, won't be on much, or very long. Sorry...but unavoidable...

PS: no more donations please; you all have done more than enough. Given us much more than expected many times over now. Nothing further required at this time...except me getting better/enough to walk again...:cry

Thanks AJ, ur intuition is right; I'm split between being mad as hell, down, or :laughing Don't know which to do...? :rolleyes I'm so, so, SO miffed my new doc diagnosed it as "Bronchitis." Two-weeks later I'm in the ER & can't breath. Some x-rays & a bunch of tests tell the ER doc it's Pneumonia & COPD. WTF?

That's been my dilemma w/these folks; & why I just changed docs. They either mis-diagnose or don't take the time to do it correctly. I have to wonder if my old worthless doc should have found the CHF early a decade ago, & prevented all this from happening now =grrr!:mad

I sure miss my old doc f/back in the 60's/70's who would come by da house w/his little black doc-bag, & do the works for a $20 bill. My how times have changed. It's do the bare minimum & CYA, or do nothing & CYA again.

I REALLY miss the old days....Ya know, my old doc in his spare time went to nursing homes, & saw those who couldn't afford a doc....for nothing. No charge, Nada, $0. Least back in the day they had a purpose, to heal the sick. Now it's $$$ or nothing...

excuse me while I go throw up...:rolleyes.

quick update: took ambulance ride yesterday. Apparently I had some kind of seizure or stroke or something. The ER docs are not sure. (!!!) I fell or seized or something & landed on my side, & apparently didn't move for ~15-20 minutes.

I really don't know how long I laid there, totally incoherent of anyone or anything. All I know is I was paralyzed & couldn't move, & blackness.
Apparently the wife/kid got home, found me unconscious, & called 911.

My wife/son were shopping, & my other son was in his bedroom, closed door & gaming on headphones. He was unaware of my plight. To me, it could have been 5 minutes or 30, I just don't know.

I didn't come around fully until I landed on the ER table, & the fog suddenly lifted & I started becoming more aware. I was mostly saying, "WTF, & where am I, what happened?" Docs worked me over all afternoon, tests tests & more tests, CT's, MRI's, EKG's....etc. They think stroke, but CT scan clear.

They never found much of anything except high BP/Pulse/etc. Now I'm going to spend the next week+ doing all kinds of tests. I'm off to the hospital shortly ....arrrgh! :mad I wish I knew what the hell was happening....seem to be fully aware now. But still a bit foggy........I'll be around when I can.

All fore now.....ebd :rolleyes

Nothing from results yet of the EEG. Went in this am @ 6am (!) for a "more detailed MRI." (what's the difference between a "regular" & a "more detailed" MRI?) I donno but I'm starting to hate those things. 30 minutes in a tube...tech didn't get earplug in on good ear = LOUD! :mad

I started getting a bit antsy at the end; cramps & spasms...ugh. The techs were nice, & seemed to be understanding at this ungawdly hour. I think I was 1st of the day...had to wait for someone to arrive to check in. ta ta de da da te ta ta....:x

Hopefully hear something soon....

uh oh. got the call late yesterday; they found something apparently. the caller would not give me any info even though I plugged her hard for information. she'd already made an appointment f/next week, at oncology department, to speak w/a neurologist.

A number of questions about how I'm feeling now/today/yesterday/etc., & she would only tell me "you must ask the doctor about that, I'm not a doctor." What a 10 months it's been eh'? Not looking forward to talking w/this doc, I'm freaked out. Now I gotta wait a week, nothing like leaving me hanging.

I hate that shit. Hey we found something but you have to make an appointment to be told about it and oh yeah it's gonna be a week or so before you can see the doc so have a nice weekend. WTF is up with that now I am just going in circles wondering what the hell is wrong.

Hang in there EBD.

Yep; exactly why I didn't slept too good last night. Thank pals. I can't believe they couldn't have someone call me to discuss... Then I could wait the week & be prepared at least...today's $ I guess.

Then the fire alarm goes off >6am this morning! The boys & I look all over, nothing. Garage, around the house, nothing. :thumbdown We give up; they go back to bed, I take it down & test =good. Test batteries. =9v. Correct.

Hmmm. I'm leaving it down =it's ~5 years old anyway; just ordered another adding carbon monoxide detector to the new fire alarm. Arrives today (1day shipping, thanks Amazon.)
Not taking a chance on this puppy; replacing it. :afm199

I donno if I'm going to add much more to this. I'm sure it's getting a bit boring & old to y'all, & the problems just are not going away despite following instructions, multi-visits, CT's/MRI's/etc., & the best I can get is:

"Sometimes even we don't know. It may have something to do a w/low-blood sugar event (diabetes), & it triggered a seizure because of your previous epilepsy history."

Sounds like a cop-out to me, but I'm trying to follow doc's orders. I'm watching blood sugar much more closely (3-4 tests a day), trying harder to eat right (I was slipping slightly), & varying insulin injections much more carefully than I used to.

Luckily the pneumonia is (as they say) "resolved," & I'm breathing easier again almost back to where I was. Still on Oxygen sometimes, trying out a CPAP machine now.

That's it for now; updates may be a bit slower in coming. I don't want to trouble you all w/this crap...

Good Luck EBD. Diabetes is a biatch. You need to watch that shit carefully it doesn't seem to have the oh shit factor of the C word but it is just as deadly.

Your doctor could be right my mom had diabetes and she would have black out episodes but there were no seizures, although she did not have a history of epilepsy either.

Apparently it runs in my family on my mothers side so I am trying to be super careful with weight management and stuff. Hoping I can avoid it.

Hang in there man all this shit is better than the alternative.

Hi y'all,

Just wanted to throw out an update to all about the work we've been having done around here. That's in large part to all the donations BARF & the ZRXOA gave during the fundraisers. Likely ~30% of what's been done in the last year have been directly due to your donations, & I also had a very timely small inheritance (low five figures) that came from a distant uncle's passing. {I'd only seen Uncle Rodger (RIP) ~eight times in my entire life. He lived in Austria after WWII which he participated in as a OSS agent. I knew very little about him other than he lived & worked in Europe.}

Thanks to the fundraiser & the above help, we've been able to get many things done. The new heater (warm!) & plumbing repairs helped immediately. No more cold showers for the family & I, no more plunging the commode multiple times each day. Nothing like a new commode not having problems that makes everyone happy! :)

We've had lots of painting done; the kitchen & bathroom, both the kids bedrooms, & the yet to come part is Mom/Dad's bedroom & living area/Dining room. We still have a lot of repairs to do, the carpets shot & there's 8-10 hardwood floor boards that are warped/need replacing (too much water by a shady carpet cleaner. Get a Brand name one folks!) Think we will end up w/hardwood floors as the fix will run us low on the $ again. So that's that. Still several leaky windows to be replaced yet. Soom doors/locks/other windows needs fixin'. Too much to list all...:(

Still need the garage door & spring replaced; very difficult to open, even w/help. The spring is “sprung” so you have to lift entire door weight now w/o help. Current estimate is $1.5K for replacement. I'm going to get a few more estimates. Need that to get to the bikes! All the other things I wanted to do will have to wait as I'm back down to normal fixed income. My wife hurt herself last Spring @ work, so she's off on disability too. Because she was part time (4 yrs), looks like she's gonna get screwed by her employer. Oh well. Win some, lose some. :(

I'll get some pics of all this work that's been done & post them soon. Still having hard time getting pics from tablet to PC for posting here. Seems the different formats make it difficult. Operator error is at work big-time. Duh.

Roof's been leaking for years; finally got enough $ to get it done. Estimate started at $12K, that's ballooned to $15K due to a bunch of dry rot & extra $300ea. county inspections x2. Woods done; now they just need to put shingles & gutters up. I discovered nails everywhere all around the house, big/hairy ones. Going to have to do many searches; can't think of a better way of finding nails in the grass? Anyone; Bueller? I could have got a new bike....waaa

As previous messages/updates this year, we've been spending all of our time/$$$ at the docs. Between the two of us it's 3-5 doc visits per week w/long drive & increasing deductibles. So it's becoming costly, & time consuming. My wifie has several eye/dental surgeries coming up; so I'm going to be cab-driver. Eye surgeries for both of us is going to be a PITA. We both also need vast dental work. Owe.

Finally, riding is still on the horizon. I haven't given up. Since I got Uncle's extra $ I ordered a new set of shocks, & have already received a 4-1 “Black Widow” Full exhaust system (I'm in the dog house for those, oops! :teeth. ) So, at the very least, a good ride remains in the garage, I'm doing slow improvements w/it, & it maybe will be ridden this winter? Hopefully soon. I still need front tire, a rebuilt brake system as it's broke.

Lots more going on w/kids, & other things keeping me busy so I haven't really been on as much. I'll try to get back on here more w/pics of all the stuff been done, & am still doing. Thank you all again for everything you've done, & been doing! You've kept me w/a positive outlook on things. I've had a lot of things going on, but still have a bright outlook to someday return to the twisties on my ZRX enjoying life w/a ear to ear motorcyclist grin.

Thank you,

-Dave

hi y'all,

haven't been on much last several days due to not getting to the pc. A few new injuries have curtailed mobility thus preventing me. Going to be deletiing/changing/curtailing online things (FB/etc.) so it will be less demanding on me...I might not be around da barf as much. :cry

Toodle-loo, & as always, "Enjoy the Ride!"
