Looking to buy a 2021 ktm 150tpi from Oregon as I cant find any left in Ca. It should be straight forward bringing it in and getting a red sticker here right?

Yes. We've bought a few bikes from Bill's Motorcycles Plus up in Salem.
Gotta pay sales tax here, which is pretty crappy, but no issues on the sticker/reg.

So you don't pay sales tax when you buy it since no sales tax in Oregon?

You just pay sales tax at the dmv?

Couple of things to watch out for ...

Make sure you get the MSO/MCO, Manufacturer Statement (Certificate) of Origin when you get the bike. That is the key to registering your bike.

Make sure you register it quickly ... there will be a date on the Bill of Sale and you have so many days to register in in CA ... like 10 days maybe? 5 days? Can't remember.

One of my missteps ... bought an Oregon bike from a dealer, paid for it in full remotely in advance, so that date was on the Bill of Sale. Then it took ~2 weeks before I could get up there and then I spent ~2 weeks riding it around up there before coming home. Then another ~1 week before I made it do the DMV. The DMV zero'ed in on the Sale date of ~5 weeks ago and charged me something stupid like $300 in late fees.

They really are supposed to go off the "date first came into CA" but I could not convince them of that and so I paid the bend over fee of $300.

Yikes! I never waited that long so thankfully did not know any of this. Thanks for the heads-up!

I ended up putting a deposit on one here locally. Gonna give that some time and see how it goes

After that it might be drive to Oregon or just wait for a used 2020/2021 TPI 150 to pop up for sale

10 days to register in CA or else there will be late fees assessed.
