Best local hardware store?

So I bought a pair of rearsets for my SV650 that's missing a bunch of hardware for installation. Anyone have good recommendations to hardware stores that have a healthy metrics section?

Mainly looking for stuff like m6 coupling nuts, rod end bearing joints, etc.

I tried Home Depot and Lowes and unfortunately they're pretty bad in terms of metrics selection...

Thanks!

yeah those won't have shit.

OSH used to but they are no more... around there there is at least one former OSH location that an ACE hardware has taken over. i'd try an ACE if you can find one.

www.mcmaster.com will have everything, be aware they charge shipping AFTER you check out somehow and prices are overall more expensive for everything.

i assume you got them used and the seller lost stuff? have you contacted the manufacturer to see if you can get replacement hardware?

Yeah I got it used and the seller didn't have any of the hardware to connect it to the bike. Unfortunately the manufacturer doesn't seem to have a very solid US distribution (the brand is PP tuning: https://pptuning.eu).

I'll give ACE a try since there's a few around me. I would buy it on Amazon but they only sell it in bulk counts so was hoping to find a local place to source.

Thanks for the recommendations!

Do you know if they have a local branch I can pick up in person?

Yes, a number of Fastenal branches in the bay area. They may or may not have it on hand, but very easy to deal with and knowledgeable to help you order the right hardware if not on hand. If ACE doesn't have what you need, Fastenal or McMaster are your best bets.

If your time is valuable order here and you will have it in 1 - 2 days. Fuk the shipping charge. Think about driving all over trying to find the stuff you need. I have ordered the exact stuff you are looking for from McMaster Carr probably about one million times. Well, alot.

Dale's Hardware in Fremont has an isle of Nuts and bolts.
Good selection but, with Covid I have seen it waning a bit.

Maybe he can pick it up there?

At McMaster? They only have a few warehouses around the US. They are the mail order king of everything remotely hardware related. I've placed orders as late as 6 pm and received them by 10 am the next morning. They are simply amazing.

Ace is the Place...

Alamo Hardware in Danville
Reichert Lumber in Pleasanton
and it looks like we'll be getting an Ace in Livermore soon, where OSH used to be- hoooooo-ray!

While that may be true, the local stores do not stock the variety nor the grade selection that a place like McMaster Carr does.

Fortunately for me, the title of the thread isn't "best place to source a wide variety of hardware" it's "best local hardware store." ;) It's not clear you're aware of that fact, being that this is post #4 repeating the same information that doesn't meet the ask in the thread title.

Well, maybe. But if one looks at the original post another way, how much more local can it be if the hardware store is on your computer? :afm199. :twofinger
