BARF Bucket

We (the mods) have been kicking around plans to establish a BARF treasury. We're currently discussing who would be responsible for managing the fund and how the whole thing would work.

We're trying to find a way to fund things that make a difference for ALL members, not a select few. Some thoughts on spending include FREE socials, VIP privileges at outings (perhaps track-time for BARF members who don't want to pay for a full trackday), prizes at socials, etc.

Coming up with ways to round up $$ is tough, but we're working on it. Sticker sales, t-shirt sales, raffles, and other ideas are being kicked around, but nothing's really solid right now. There's even a remote possibility of getting a line on discount purchasing of parts that you already buy for your bike.

I want to share this with everyone as early as possible to make sure you all know that NO ONE is looking to line their pockets, NO ONE on the site will ever be required to contribute, there will be checks and double checks on the funds, and we want the money for NOTHING other than benefiting the group as a whole!

Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions??

I'm all for it. (I just don't wanna manage it ) I know they have had some problems lately, but pay-pal (personally I've never had a problem with them) may be a good bank account for us, it'll will allow people to pay for stickers/shirts etc. on-line and the treasurer won't have to make 50 trips to the bank to deposit 50 checks.

I'm for it. My thoughts would be:

In order to satisfy the people that are skeptical about what the money is/will be used for............there should be like a running amount that is kept on the site somewhere for everyone to view. Also each time a purchase is made then it should be posted in the same area for all to see. This way no one can question why TSC Girl has a new Telephonica when she cant even ride.

It could be like in church, Each time we get together for a "meeting" we pass around the "bucket" (helmet, tankbag, etc) and collect the money. No need to keep track of who does and doesn't donate, I hear some people are a little cash strapped. But take the money, and create the treasury... The only problem is to find the person who can count past 6, 1down6up on my cbr, and is willing to get hasseled when ever the show up with a new "..." The accounting would be reported at the "I hope" monthy socials.

The other thing is what is the money going to be used for?

As I understand it money would be used for stickers, t-shirts, a new Porch for Steve, pizza at group gatherings, a 929 for Mstingray, prizes to be awarded on rides and at gatherings, a digital cam for me to take pics at meets and rides and other things.

There would be to sets of records kept. The actual collecting and spending of the funds and what we report to the web site.

Boy, I can't wait to get that digital camera.

Now I'm totaly speculating here but I believe the idea was to not have donations what so ever. I think the "mods" are looking to give something back to the people who participate. Like if we could get ahold of parts at a discount. Then sell them for cheaper than where you would find at any store, and still turn a profit to pay for the socals and get togethers. Sticker and shirt sales are another way of turning money. Maybe we could spend sundays boosting cars. By boosting and choping cars we could pay for all trackdays, socals, a free 2 story house for all the members, etc.
