Really a well done bit above by Arnoha although it is not up to date. I have updated it, but hate to steel any thunder from the person who put in the time and effort to do this so I am not sharing that yet. I will one day.. probably 2014 as the barf racing support will reach a 10 year milestone and we .. I mean Chris Siglin did win the AFM number 1 plate in 2011. Berto (holeshot here) has won a couple of top 10 plates too and a couple of F1 championships... plus we have a landspeed record and mini bike championships and a fast Krazy Cid in the Red Bull Rookies Cup now living in Europe.

and we........ :ride:thumbup

Like I said it is really well done and very accurate to the time of his last entry.

Update 2017

Thanks for replying to this post. It has been 4 years since it was updated.
There is another thread about our 15th year in existence that is a fun read, because it has pictures and links to so much history.

2016-15 years of barfing

Some things have change within the racing effort. Kazman has been plying his trade for barf and via his racing team he is helping the next generation of racers. We supported Deion Campbell for a couple of years and he is now in MotoAmerica rocking the big time. Joy Higa is repping barf in a couple of MotoAmerica events and will be at Laguna in July.
AJ = Honey Badger has taken over as the fastest lady in the AFM ( from my perspective :teeth)

Anthony retired at a young age and is chasing graphic arts and he is damn good at that too!

We helped get the lanesplitting bill passed and modified to something that is beneficial for veteran riders. We have helped with the new guidelines too, but I don't expect them to be what we wanted, but at least they will be back and the CHP are investing in social media and other efforts to raise awareness.... and lots more good stuff too.

Life rolls as do we when we are on two wheels.

I read about Barf history, very respectable, great job to those founders and incredible achievements. I appreciate very much. When we enjoy something we should learn where it was from.

Recently moved to the Bay Area from UK, loving the landscape and roads for two wheel soul dispatching... Looking for garage, workshop in SF to keep my bike healthy and meet like minded peeps. Looking forward to meeting some you.

Thanks

Thanks for the information. I've been riding for more than 30 years and done dozens of track days. This is my first time on BARF and I am impressed. no egos or trolls. My track bike is a 2002 GSX-R1000 and the suspension was set up by Dave Moss. Thanks again .

Newbie Here

thanks for the history. Just getting back into riding and love my HD 1200cc. Which can really pack a punch. Enjoy riding in the bay area amongst all the hills and trees. Hope to find some like minded riders to enjoy short rides with.

Thanks for having this forum available.

Hi Everyone,

My name is Jen, I've lived in the Bay Area for 12 years, most recently. I grew up in San Jose ages 5-12. After that, I lived half my life in the South, in Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina, before moving to London for 6 years. After the divorce, *coughs*, I came back to the Bay to be closer to my sister and two nieces, both of whom are now grown. I live in San Francisco currently. I've chosen to be car-free since 2002.

When I was in high school, I dated an older guy with a motorcycle that he called a rice burner LOL, who of course my parents hated and tried to stop me from seeing. But he was probably the nicest guy I ever dated, and if I hadn't broken up with him to date someone my own age, I often wonder how my life would have been different. He taught me about safety and wearing appropriate leathers ALWAYS, because he'd had a serious accident and the only thing that saved his skin was his leathers.

That was probably my biggest exposure to bikes, but only riding on the back of his. I also tried to learn how to ride on my own when still in high school, but my friend's dad who had an old Indian, he wouldn't let me take it out of the yard, so I never learned how to shift gears. And that was the end of my experience with bikes, at least, until someone wants to take me out here in the Bay Area?

I know this isn't a dating site, but it's probably germane to mention that I'm in my 40s and single, with no kids, and not even any pets right now, so I'm down for whatever. Can take weekend trips away, etc.

Anyways, to be completely transparent, I'm a co-founder of a tech startup in stealth mode (which means we haven't incorporated yet), and we're looking at creating something that motorcyclists might enjoy. So I'm wanting to read, learn, digest, and meet some of y'all, to hear your experiences, and what things might be helpful to you in going on adventure rides. Thanks for letting me poke around here. I look forward to getting to know BARF better, and maybe learning to shift gears!

Welcome back to the US and to Barf.
Maybe just sign up for the CMSP class. They provide everything, bike, gear etc. And teach you all the basics. Better than having friends try to teach you while they cringe at the thought of their bike hitting the deck.
There is a very active riding community here, along with several top notch group ride groups including Barf, Grouprides.net and others. And, as long as you don't mind some good natured ribbing, post questions/ comments here.
