1982 Honda CR480

Man, after all these years I still love the sound of the 2 strokes!
And this one is a beast.
Super clean bike!

I sorta chuckled at the fixed blade knife and "knuckles" but do remember seeing that too back in the 70's and 80's.

edit to add...

The 1988 CR125 too...

Its a kinda strange feeling when bikes of your youth are now in a museum. Not sure how I feel about that! :x

The 1983 CR125 I bought in 84 while in high school was one of the best bikes I ever owned. I blew the motor up and cracked the cases two years later after not following the advice of my elders.... after spending an entire summers earnings rebuilding it, the bike was promptly stolen in the fall of 86 and no insurance. Went off to college the next year in the fall of 87, and that was the end of my 10 yr run of dirt biking on a regular basis until over a decade later.

Brings back memories though. First street bike in high school was 81 Kawi KZ440 LTD in 85. Local dealer had a dollar per CC sale. Yes I bought a like new, turn key, uncrashed 4yr old street bike for $440 from the Kawasaki dealer. Talk about the days! No wonder everyone rode bikes back then.

Rode that for the summer proving I could be responsible on the street (what a lie.) :laughing Then bought a crashed 83 Honda 750 Interceptor, what every 16 yr old needs. :gsxrgrl After straightening it out and fixing it, I went on my crash course into sport bikes, quite literally. :facepalm

Thankfully by my freshman year of college in 87, some older folks that were into sportbikes, track, and racing took me under their wings and got me onto a yr old near new 86 Yamaha FZ600. Started to really learn how to ride a sportbike ending the young and dumb fear nothing crashing phase, or at least lessened it to an extent. :laughing

Shit.. now I am taking other folks down my memory rabbit hole today.

Thanks for the ride in the way way back time machine John! :thumbup

Edit for above. I just remembered it was late fall of 83, 9th grade I bought the CR125.

To bring my comments full circle, the Schmidt kid I bought it from was a local A racer. The next year in 84 he raced the CR 125, 250, and the then new 500. He let me ride the 500 at our local power robbing deep sand track called the pits. Appropriate as it was an old unused sand excavation enterprise where we carved out a pretty nice track with the help of some folks fathers machinery. Imagine that happening these days....

Bottom line, that 500 scared me like no other bike has since, on or off the track, dirt or street, even in that deep sand. :laughing

I'm getting old and cant even keep my train of thoughts straight. Need to log off and go outside. :facepalm
