Here are a few pics from our visit last Thursday.

Thanks to Tim (Enchanter) as always for supporting the effort.. he makes every one and really gets in touch with the kids when they "walk the line" with the beer goggles on. :loco

This works well with the help of Repsol who provides us with shirts and hats for the kids.. thanks so much for the continued support as we strive to educated our new riders..

Also thanks to Gixxergirl1000 for coming out to help as well.

And to the LEO's present.. we always appreciate your support :thumbup

So a few pics..

Could we have a sticky thread in General for these events? Just a place for mods or the leaders of 1Rider to post updates and links to threads related to upcoming events?

Also, a shared Google Calendar with this stuff would be nice.

Here are a couple of the graphics the kids are looking at on the table.

I talked with a least 10 that were dirt bike riders.. nice start to a successful riding career.

The Livermore PD brought out a board with crashes and such to display (first pic below) and also some helmets that were cored showing the protection.. one was a brain bucket and it was easy to note... NONE!

and a couple more of the kids..

These are fun and a good way to get kids to think a little.. we handed out about 100 bumper stickers as well.

Great job to getting out there and educating people, now all of the Bay Area commuters need to see this information and think more about their driving practices and looking out for motos.:thumbup

I'd like to Volunteer the next time an event like this happens.

I didn't see a post of this anywhere :( but that was probably due to my lack of browsing ability. Was this on the BARF Calendar?

Have to say I had a great time! Had some good conversations with the kids... and my bike got lots of compliments! :laughing
Watching the kids walk the line with the beer goggles on was eye-opening! I have to admit... after lunch break was over, I tried... oh man. Epic Fail!! I don't know how some of those kids managed to actually walk the line!! :wow
Thanks for letting me participate Dennis, Tim & Mark... I had a great time, and I'm looking forward to the next one!:thumbup

Don't be that guy.
Wow this is great stuff. In my opinion, doing this at a high school is the best place to get the information out and embedded in their heads. This is the time when they are easily influenced and I'm sure just the idea of riding is huge attention grabber even for the ones that wanna do it for the "cool high school" factor. It's the best time for them to hear and absorb the information.

+1

Owning a hayabusa, I wouldn't mind offering to display it in contrast with other bikes.

You could setup a smaller CC "starter" bike, a middle weight, and my bike. And explain WHY they should start out smaller. Perhaps with help from us, let them feel the weight difference in the bikes.

I never heard of motorcycle awareness during my driver ed classes, and educating the youth would (hopefully) instill this. Volunteering sounds pretty awesome, too.
