Dr John Hinds and racing accident medical rescue

Apologies if this has been posted before, but I found it fascinating. Sadly, Dr Hinds was killed in a race accident in July of this year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsZBXlTHPCg Terry

If you have to leave your bike in a high risk area

Given the constant flow of reported bike thefts, if you live in an apartment building, or have to park on the street, the following gadget might be useful. http://www.gizmag.com/trackerpad-gps-tracker-stickers/38611/ True it only has 6-7 day battery life between recharges, but you get two of...

Tire repair in or near Yuba City

Anyone know of a bike tire repair place open on Monday in or near Yuba City? Metal valve stem on my front wheel just broke and left me with a flat tire. I am only visiting my daughter in Yuba City for the weekend, and was planning to head back home to SF tonight. Not familiar with any service...

    Stupid riding

No wonder car drivers get pissed off at us. Coming up 101 by SFO, 4.30 in the afternoon yesterday on my bike. Freeway full and moving at ~70 mph. Biker blows by me on my right, about 2 ft from me traveling at at least 20+ on me. Proceeds to weave in and out of the lanes of cars without slowing...

Lane splitting- we are our own worst enemy

Regarding the rider death on the 13th. Read some of the comments in the attached article. Reckless lane splitting by a few (and I am not saying this accident was reckless, since I don't know any more than what was in the article) can boomerang back on us if enough pissed off drivers complain to...

Left turn right of way question.

I live in SF and one of my primary access roads is also a busy pedestrian area. I would like to know, in the following scenario, who yields to who 4 way light controlled intersection. (Berry and 4th, next to Philz coffee shop) Heading north on 4th I make a left turn, on a green arrow from 4th...

    101 commute puzzle

OK, so I commute 2-3 days each week from downtown SF to North San Jose. Every day except Friday traffic is heavy and I am lane splitting from Millbrae to Hillsdale Blvd, and again in Palo Alto. Friday morning, and it's every Friday morning, traffic is dramatically lighter, no lane splitting...

    Lane splitting and convertible cars

I lane split regularly on 101 to work and find car drivers in general to be very helpful. Even the big white bus guys move over a bit if they have a chance. I also drive a Mini Cooper convertible and over the weekend was reminded how bad the rear vision is in that car. Crossing the Bay Bridge...

    Lane splitting 2 up

Do you lane split when riding two up? I have no problems lane splitting when riding solo, but am distinctly uncomfortable lane splitting when the significant other is sitting behind me. Extra responsibility, extra weight.
