Saw a Norton Commando in my neighborhood.

Or at least I think I did. It had restored factory lettering on it, said Norton Commando. It was bright yellow, looked like new, must have been restored by someone who loves commandos. Parked right out there on the street near a burgman. I thought it was a triumph until I got close.

Pics of my new ride (Honda CB500X)

Pics as promised, most of the upgrades are done, It still needs grip guards and warmers, thinking about a TPMS and a Gear indicator too, but they can wait for now. Outfitted as a bagger and lit up for commuting day or nght, rain or shine. It took the whole weekend to get all that mounted, many...

My new bike is too quiet (more ravings of a lunatic)

Ok, I posted on this once before, but the idea has grown into something less (or more) insane depending on your point of view. Problem: - motorcycles are either too loud or too soft, and needs change during a ride. - you want loud sometimes, like on the freeways and when splitting. - you want...

So, you want a used R6?

So I was in the dealer over the weekend buying a bike, and while I was there another customer comes in and says "you got any used R6's?" The sales guy turns and waves his hand over a sea of used R6's, 4 rows deep about five per row. The customer was standing right next to them too. For some...

Gear indicator - new farkle for me

Anbody know anything about this: http://www.amazon.com/Dakota-Digital-PGR-1000-Programming-Indicators/dp/B000GZINN0 It says it works on almost any bike, tells you what gear you are in. I would love that if it works, I am going from five gears to six and know I would love an indicator like...

Bought a new CB500X ABS today

It's white, with full luggage. It will be my new commuter. The 'X' is the dual-sport version, I have learned to love dual-sports for commuting, taller is better for seeing and being seen, and I like long throw suspension for nasty urban roads. I test rode it today, including some freeway...

I started riding again for real this time

Ok, last post about this stuff, BARF has way too much fun with it. :-) After poking around, I believe it is possible to solve "male" problems on most bikes. I bought this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005LDBU0U/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It is an air-cushioned seat pad...

    I'm baaaack...... mwa hah hah.

Some of you may remember me as the freakazoid who quit riding about six months ago to avoid male health problems. And in retrospect, without giving too much detail, it was the right thing to do. At the time all we knew was it was not just a seat problem, and might have something to do with EM...

Time to quit riding for my manhood's sake

And if I had known this, I never would have taken up riding to begin with: First of all, anecdotes vs decent scientific evidence are worlds apart, these are decent studies with solid results, read them for yourselves...

Anybody buy one of the new Honda 500's yet?

I have been checking them out. The CB500F looks like a great commuter - this is my interest. Available with a full set of OEM hard bags, waiting on a givi rack. The CB500X is a dual sport - I would be interested but alas seat height is too high for me. The CB500R seems like a bike that will...

How long are tires safe to ride

I am preparing my xv250 for sale after it sat in the garage for almost 2 years. It had a battery tender and I started it up and ran it every month or so. It runs just like it did two years ago. I just drained the old gas and replaced it with fresh. It will get a dealer service this weekend...

Ok, I have to ask... what's with the one-handed riding?

Seems it is only guys on sport bikes in full gear. Is there some purpose to it?

    Pre-Flight checks

I have some aftermarket lights that are part of my pre-flight check. Going home from work last week they were out. I had only the stock lights, had to ride home like that, ick. One of my solder joints had broken clean off. As a long time solder jockey that doesn't happen to me often. Don't...

After years of saying I wouldn't, ordered some heated glove liners.

Ordered the Gerbing heated glove liners last weekend, and the single portable contoller. Hope they come in before the cold snap ends. :-) I also ordered parts to make a battery pack. A flat pack using 9 eneloop AA's should be the right voltage, it will fit in one of my chest pockets...

    Mini foot pump

http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/4573/733/ Anybody have one? I bought two, will let you know how they work out after I use them a few times. At this point I know they are tiny, the pouch is a little bigger than a can of soup. - Kurt

What's up with Honda and automatics

For as far back as I can remember (late 70's) Honda has had some kind of automatic transmission bike. But in that time I have never known anyone who had one, or understood why anyone would buy one. I knew about the DN- thing, and now they have a dual-sport ABS/auto for us? Has anyone ever...
