    2015 Ducati Multistrada preview

Sorry, no pictures. They didn't even have a battery in it, so I didn't bother. I saw the 2015 today at The Motor Cafe. The Ducati Tour was there showing off the 1299 Panigale, Scrambler and the next generation Multistrada. I got there about 11am and hung out for a good 2 hours. These are...

    Dual Sport tires for sale

I stocked up on tires a couple years ago and over-estimated my need. I'd like to see these tires get some use and I don't see needing them in the next 12 months. My screw up is your gain... Metzeler Karoos: $110 for the pair take offs (26 miles on them) 90/90x21 (DOT 2409) and 140/80x18...

    Removal of Charcoal Canister

There's a mostly useless box on street legal bikes that contains charcoal and has a few hoses attached. One vents to air, one goes to the gas cap or tank and any others to various places depending on the design. This is intended to catch and filter gas when the bike is tipped over as well as...

Super Day On The Super Tenere: El Dorado National Forest

I've dual sported a Harley Road King... ...and a BMW K1100LT... so why not? You just have to tackle reasonable terrain at an appropriate speed. So, no, I wasn't tripling jumps on the Harley... But then, I don't on my dirt bike, either... :laughing

    The conversion is complete

Well, sorta. Piece of crap pinch bolt on the forks broke off with hardly any torque, so I gotta get replacements and drill it out. I still plan on running it in dual sport mode sometimes, but for now, this is the default configuration.

Being hassled for a PNO vehicle

I have a truck that is registered PNO. The tags on the plate are from 2000. The vehicle was running when parked way back when, but probably needs a serious soaking of the carb in a bucket of gas to get running again. Anyways... I live in a private community. There is a posted sign about...

post a *PIC* of your latest purchase (can be anything as long as you purchased it)

My newest toy After owning an original Leatherman for about 19 years now, I decided to upgrade. It's already failed to loosen the nuts to adjust my clutch (needlenose are a poor substitute for a wrench). I have little doubt that it, like it's predecessor, will come in handy often. The...

    Fire Lookouts?

There's a few just outside of Quincy, north of and near Lake Davis. The route depicted here hits two towers (yeah, yeah, I made the Lord of the Rings joke while on the ride...) Looking down at our bikes from near Tower 1 Tower 1 as we called it Tower 2 has a nice view of Lake Davis...

LEONARDO da Vinci exhibit at the Tech in San Jose - Sunday, Jan 18th.

Good stuff, thanks for organizing this, Yana. The IMAX show was definitely good stuff and the exhibit was very interesting. He was a man of so many talents. Just incredible. Here's just a couple of the shots I took: Notice my cellphone on the hoof for scale. A 6' tall person comes up to...

Run what you brung, minimalist touring, with pics.

This was my bike on Day 1 of my Big Ass Ride (BAR™) in the late summer of 2007: It was packed tight. Camping gear on top and in the back seat bag, clothes, rain gear, spare gear, cold gear, etc in all the other bags. There's a video camera mounted there that I used. I took 26 hours or so...

To the SJPD Motorcop on 280N about 10:40am today

No I am not M4M. (grow up, kids) I was northbound on 280 this morning, just after coming off 87 north and weaving through the slowbies and psychos to get in a safe position on the road. I did noticed you in my blind spot and looked over. Instead of lighting me up for doing 72 in a 65 (I've...
