Clay broke his KTM's rear hub on the
sprocket side ...

... fortunately, BARF-er OaklandF4i was there to rescue Clay in Matt's truck ... :thumbup

Thanks for putting up a ride report. Sounds like fun. I need to go check out Hollister sometime and romp around on the strom.

Oh, and the DOT knobby-slick has been replaced with a more DS worthy Anakee 2.

Non-negotiable Summit Road raid sounds rad! :ride

I enjoy camping at Hollister Hills with my
dirt-bike pals ... they eat better than me ... :laughing

The DL with Anakee 2s should be fun on some
of the Hollister trails ... :thumbuparty

Yes, we've been having a birthday ride at Hollister since AJ was
eight or so ... I'll have to look for an old pic ... :ride

There's a KTM joke here somewhere about Clay's
KTM hub, but I guess I'm too much of a
KLR gentleman to think of one ... :laughing

Took Pine Valley (off Hwy 198) to Cattleman to San Ardo, under Hwy 101 to
a left onto Lockwood-San Ardo Road (dirt! arty) ...

... and wound up here, 100 miles south of Hollister ...
Williams Hill BLM, east of Ft Hunter Liggett ... :ride

... just in time for sunset ... that's Cone Peak ...

... Cone Peak ... that's the end of Coast Ridge Road if you
head north from Naciamento-Fergusson Road ...

Cone Peak features the steepest coastal elevation
in the lower 48 United States, rising nearly a mile
above sea level, only three miles (5 km) from the Pacific Ocean.
Its average gradient from sea level to the summit is about 33%,
which is steeper on average than the gradient from
Owens Valley to Mount Whitney. There's a five mile
road up Cone Peak from Nac-Ferg, but it has been
closed since 2012, I think ... :nchantr

I also think Nac-Ferg goes through
the saddle to the left ... :ride

The peak on the right is the tallest in the
Santa Lucia Range,
5857' Junipero Serra Peak ...
