holy fuck. he just won the i'm-one-fucking-lucky-but-unlucky-bastard lotto.

It's like that episode of X files where a guy kicked a bunch of mafia guy's asses at poker and walked away with hundreds of thousands of dollars, but then got thrown off a high rise, but survived by landing in a dumpster.

KRON4 TV News provided an illustrated re-enactment per what the CHP investigators determined. Obviously the illustration was done to give KRON4's audience an idea of what might have occurred. We haven't yet heard from Ozy himself.

Supposedly as he was heading down the straighted portion of the downramp, he first hit the far left rail ...

... and then ricocheted to the right and over the right side rail ...

In a sense you could say he was like a shiny steel ball on a pinball ramp. Except he didn't have the top glass to keep him from overshooting the rail.

Here's the link to the updated video that ran last night: http://cdn11.castfire.com/video/142...1-1-0-0.2981.mp4?referer=http://www.kron.com/

How is it even posible to ricochete across two lines of traffic? And CHP done with investigation in only a few hours? Media is full of shit.

i think paul should change his name to chev chellios ( the guy from the movie crank who feel outa the helicopter and landed on the car and lived, you know that movie)

Just left Paul a little bit ago, and he looks amazingly good... black eye, pale, & a little shaky, but it was such a relief to see him!!
He's having surgery this afternoon to plate his broken pelvis, & a screw for the broken vertebrae, & then tomorrow gets moved to Kaiser Vallejo. He was really touched to hear about the outpouring of well wishes from BARFers.
Best news of all, though, is hearing he will make a full recovery! :)

That is most excellent news, Connie :thumbup

He's been on my mind since I first heard about it yesterday. I take that exit every day and my worst fear is getting punted off the bridge (or anything, for that matter...) through no fault of my own. Please wish him the best for me!

Wow. That is truly AMAZING news.

Thanks for being his pal and for sharing, Connie. :thumbup

No one will ever have a better crash and recovery story to tell. Oz 40 years from now when one of your grand-kids falls out of a tree you'll be able to bring them great comfort with "Well, let me tell you about the time I got hit by a van, flew off a freeway overpass and fell on an SUV 40 feet down and crushed it."

Heal up! :thumbup

Great to hear he'll make a full recovery! :thumbup

BARF - PLS STOP TRYING TO ASSIGN BLAME - IT DOESN'T F'ING MATTER.

If he's your friend, ask him the next time you cross paths - if not, wish him well. It's that simple.

Fuck! That is one lucky SOB, relatively speaking.

Rooting for you Oz! Hope you have a speedy and full recovery.

Never met him in person, incidentally I only PMed him once because he shared a handle with another Ozymandias in ADV (who didn't fare as well in his accident).

Connie, Ben,

I have a 3:30pm appt with cycle61 in mtnview, we're gonna miss each other today unless i can reschedule with him.

But for sure let me know about the bike, I have a place to keep his bike and can have it back together before he's off crutches. I wouldn't want my bike in a wrecking yard while I was in the hospital, racking up $100 a day, charges so.. someone has to get it and secure it..

Should I bring my weed wacker to help get those bikes out? :laughing

I've already talked to a friend of mine who's SFPD (thanks, Steve!!), they didn't take the bike, CHP did (PM on it's way to Rel!). Paul's asked me to find out what I can, and do what I can to get the bike out, and I'll be working on that tomorrow. He said the bike has full coverage, so insurance will be taking care of repairs. The main thing is getting the bike out of impound.
And I don't think we'll need a weed wacker... but I think it will definitely take the two of us to drag them out of the jungle.... :laughing

And after talking to Paul, KRON 4's "re-enactment" :)rolleyes) is full of shit.

AFAIK, the registered owner is the only one able to get the vehicle out of impound. Insurance will likely take care of the added cost.

Super glad to hear Paul's prognosis for a full recovery. I agree that we should all hold off any speculation on what happened out of respect for our fellow BARFer. He will tell his tale if and when he decides its appropriate. Of course, I am interesting in hearing it from the man that survived it!

Erm...did anyone notice that in this pic, if you zoom out one step, the "Mexican Consulate" is a white car parked next to an empty lot?

I got a chuckle out of that as well. Maybe it's underground? With tunnels running directly to the docks? :laughing
