Nation-wide climate strike by students

The insufferable little brat, who has been driven to mental illness by climate change hysteria, screeches at the US and western Europe, where CO2 emissions have DECREASED in recent years. But she ignores Communist China, which emits TWICE AS MUCH CO2 as the US and has 50% more planned, mainly in coal-fired powerplants.

Ok, never mind. I didn't read this before my last comment. Might want to change your username to BiasDan.

As far as your comment goes, sure. That's fine. But that argument is old and tired. It basically says "Mommy, why shouldn't I shit on the floor? The dog just did." and "Mommy, why should I clean my room? Johnny doesn't clean his." It has no merit at all. We can try and get China to do their part WHILE DOING OUR PART ALSO. Why do we always have to act like a three old "Waaaaaaaa, it's unfair. why do I have to go to school today?"

Theres no hopping on any bandwagon. Greta's parents are far left activists and her rallies in US were sponsored by the Democratic Socialists of America. The political group behind Bernie Sanders to who AOC and Linda Sarsour are dues paying members.

Also your dismissal of anyone who disagrees with far left ecological doomsday propaganda as dumb rednecks tells a lot.
Sometimes simply not living in a leftist bubble is enough.

Far left ecological doomsday propaganda..? Holy shit dude. I see this from both sides on barf where the thing itself is no big deal, but a person is so crazy paranoid about it that it becomes a big thing in their mind and then they complain about it being a big thing, basically creating the problem they're complaining about.

so you don't think her course of action of 'screeching' at the USA and Europe is the best possible way to change how the world uses energy? Do you think that China or India or Russia would be the better 'world leaders' to implore?

What's coming it's way worse than what was.

with a bitter worldview, it always is.

if you don't see that St. Greta et al is appealing to exactly who needs appealing to, then you just don't get the message. Not that I think trying to help people like you, online anyways, to see the light is possible.

Lol that polution in China is also a result of "Western" nations outsourcing production. It's a direct result of competition.

Has this thread been re-opened?

Really interesting to see the diverse set of opinions.

If anything, Greta did a great job to get everyone thinking about climate change. I think that was part of the motive.

Time is a shit rag magazine though, I have a subscription to it and I feel like it's about 75% Trump-bashing content at this point. It got so old I basically just toss the mag in the recycle bin once I get it in the mail.

On a related note, how long does it take to get access to the political forum? I sent a note to budman and got a positive reply in December 5, 2018. Still waiting...

So binary.

It is binary if you support her vision of ecology.
The way I see it the capitalist West is doing pretty good in the big scheme of things. The fact that she still focuses on Western nations and that criticism of capitalism is fundamentally to her argument it's a clue to the real reason to anyone willing to see plain truth in front of them.

Just a heads up, I think discussing anything involving capitalism is too political, given that budman deleted your post #431 and you can still see the quote a couple down. I have some comments on your post that I wouldn't mind discussing, if you think we can manage to do it in a non-shitshow kind of way like we normally do. If you're cool with that, then delete it to save yourself a suspension and move it over to a thread in political.
