Dear Members,

It is with a very heavy heart that I am letting you know we lost one of the best people of barf. Hoho passed after a long battle with cancer.

The man was gold in my book. A good soul for sure and fun to hang with. A gentleman to boot. We went on a lot of Rallies together after he joined barf in 2011 and bought a new bike in 2012. His Triumph which he road until last year.

Several barfers knew he was struggling with the disease, but I was hopeful after he bounced back enough to come to the Midsummer Magic Rally last year.

I had gone to see him a couple weeks ago and brought him bruschetta. He said he wanted to eat some good food. He was in a wheel chair then and I rolled him down the hall to a room where we sat, ate and chatted. He was weak, but still hopeful and so was I. He shared his regret that he turned down an offer to be a barf moderator, so I said what about now?
He said yes and quick confirmation with our Admin's had him in the new shooting gallery forum (his idea to pursue Mototireguy’s idea. ) and also the kitchen sink. He really dug in and participated. It felt good to see him do that and he seemed to enjoy it.

Many other barfers visited him there and then in the hospital during his last days. When I went to the Hospital last weekend I met his Dad, Auntie, Sister and others on Sunday. Wonderful people. It was sad to see his Dad so down. He had just flown in from the Philippines on Friday. Glad he got to see his son and share some precious time together all be it sad. Condolences to them :rose

You son touched many people and I am sure you can tell a lot of folks here loved him.

Hoho generally enjoyed people and showed it. Here he started some fun stuff poking carries an axe. Many laughs together. Man I am going to miss him :cry.....and I know many of you will too. Once again the barf heart has a whole to be repaired. Time will stitch it up, but there will always be a scar.

In his honor we are going to rename the Mid-Summer Magic Rally to the Hoho Magic Rally.

His magic touched many of us (specifically Rally Riders and lots of social events in person) and that magic will continue every time we go to Weaverville and for me probably all of them and more.

Godspeed Hoho :rip
Love ya man.

EDIT. I may edit your post to embed pictures into them.
Hope you understand.

I'd been aware of Hoho from interacting online for years before I finally met him. He came to the first BARF Jam back when we held them and didn't miss one thereafter. He brought a guitar, set it against the wall and listened all night, each time.

Hoho was eager to participate in all kinds of BARF social events and rides. He didn't seem to want to be the center of attention, but somehow everyone knew him.

I got to know him better as time went on and found him to be the same in real life as he was online: Friendly, kind, graceful. Sometimes, when people are going though tough times in life, you can see it reflected in their interactions with others on BARF. If you look back over his posts, you don't really find negativity. He was the same sweet man, who wanted the best for others.

His way of being was and is inspiring. I'm hanging onto that idea tightly as I mourn his passing.

We weren’t social in person but I knew him through friends and the forum...

You’ve touched me more than most. Your sickness and passing has had me in tears. I took time off to evaluate my life and the love I have for others. You meant a lot.

Just goes to show how much you impact others without knowing

Much love brother

He made the world a better place just by being himself. Grace, humility, and massive courage. He set a high bar. :cry
